Final mowing instructions
Once we’ve made it to the home stretch it's important to finish the lawn mowing season strong. We prepare lawns for winter by gradually lowering the mower height. Lowering the mowing height will lessen the conditions that encourage disease development throughout the winter and reduce the chances that your lawn will suffer from those diseases next spring. While we encourage tall grass height during the growing season to retain moisture, keep soil temperatures down and encourage root development, grass left tall over the winter will lay down under the weight of snow and ice (especially in shaded areas), preventing air circulation and creating a micro-environment conducive to incubating harmful diseases. Simply put: To help your lawn, mow tall in the summer, leave short in the winter.
